Benfica striker Darwin Nunez has refused to rule out a move away from his Portuguese club this summer in his latest interview as monitored by English publication Daily Star. When asked about his future at Benfica shortly after the second leg clash with hosts Liverpool in the Champions League quarterfinals, Premier League target Nunez said that his focus is on Benfica at the moment before adding that we will see at the end of the season.
Nunez scored a goal in each of the two legs with Liverpool who were able to secure a place in the last four thanks to the 6-4 aggregate win over Benfica. He scored the lone goal for Benfica in the first leg which ended in a 3-1 defeat with the likes of Ibrahima Konate, Diogo Jota and Luis Diaz getting on the scoresheet for the Reds. In the second leg, Nunez scored the equaliser for his team to secure a 3-3 draw at Liverpool, but it was not enough to see them through to the next stage as they were knocked out of the competition at the quarterfinal stage. Apart from Nunez, Goncalo Ramos and Ukrainian substitute Roman Yaremchuk were also on target for Benfica. Brazilian star Roberto Firmino scored twice for Liverpool in the second leg to add to the opening goal from the above-mentioned Konate.
A lot of Premier League teams are keen on signing Nunez from Benfica including North London giants Arsenal and Manchester United. Other such as Tottenham Hotspur, Chelsea and Newcastle United are also interested.
